Dr. Shia is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who enjoys tackling a wide variety of orthopedic problems but specializes in sports and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and elbow.  Specialty surgical procedures include arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery as well as joint replacements.  These include but are not limited to rotator cuff repair, traumatic injuries, elbow ligament reconstruction, as well as both anatomic and the "reverse" shoulder replacement.

Dr. Shia attended the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.  Following medical school he completed both his residency in orthopedic surgery and a shoulder and elbow sports and reconstructive fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis Missouri.

While at Washington University, Dr. Shia was involved in the care of professional sports teams including the St. Louis Rams NFL team and the St. Louis Blues NHL team.  His research interests include both arthroscopic shoulder surgery and shoulder replacements.  The Washington University program was annually one of the top three high volume centers in the country for shoulder & elbow replacements.

Dr. Shia enjoys spending time with his wife Kara and daughter Madison.
