Jonathan C. Crist, MD

Orthopedics, Sports Medicine Injury

Dr. Crist completed his Family Medicine residency at Oregon Health and Science University in 2007 after graduating from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 2004. He completed his subspecialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the University of Utah in 2008.

Dr. Crist specializes in non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions particular to athletes. He has specific procedural training in both osteopathic techniques and fluoroscopically-guided injections of the spine. Although he has special interests in concussion management, nonoperative treatment of osteoarthritis, and athletic pubalgia (sports hernia), Dr. Crist treats musculoskeletal disorders in both athletes and non-athletes of all ages. "I want patients to know that, as a Sports Medicine physician, I am not solely concerned with helping elite athletes achieve their maximum potential; I strive to help all active individuals reach their personal best, regardless of age, activity, or skill level."

While at the University of Utah, Dr. Crist cared for athletes in multiple collegiate sports, including the university's Division I football team, and was also a staff physician at the Park City Ski Clinic. He is currently a team physician for the University of Portland and works with numerous athletic groups within Portland.  In addition to clinical activities, Dr. Crist has presented at numerous national Sports Medicine conferences and remains active in medical education here in Portland. He has also recently co-authored a new chapter on neurologic injuries in the current edition of Netter's Sports Medicine: The Team Physician's Handbook.
