Robert Sandmeier, MD
Orthopedics, Sports Medicine
Dr Sandmeier has been a Sports Medicine Injury specialist in Portland since 1997 and is the Team Physician for Lewis and Clark College and Sunset High School. He provides both surgical and non-operative care for a wide range of problems in physically active people. Knee problems such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and meniscus injuries make up the majority of his practice.
Dr. Sandmeier believes that it is best to use a team approach to help get you better as soon, and as predictably as possible. Coordinating your treatment plan between physical therapists, athletic trainers and nutritionists as well as the transition back to your coaches and personal trainers is imperative so that you can know what to expect in terms of down time and when you can return to your activities.
Dr. Sandmeier joined The Portland Clinic in 2007 to help create a comprehensive sports medicine program to meet the unique needs of the athletic community. His background includes attending medical school at the University of New Mexico, orthopedic residency at the University of Vermont and a Sports Medicine Fellowship program at the University of Utah. Dr. Sandmeier is Board Certified in orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
