Dr. Gwilliam received her M.D. from McMaster University Medical School in Hamilton, Ontario and served her residency and fellowship at The Wellesley Hospital at the University of Toronto. Dr. Gwilliam taught the staff at The University of Toronto in the Family Practice Program prior to moving to Portland. She is a member of the Canadian College of Family Physicians.
