Swanson, Vicki FNP
I am a board certified family nurse practitioner who graduated with my bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1997 and my master’s of science/nurse practitioner degree from Gonzaga University in 2002.
I was born in McMinnville, Oregon and lived in Hillsboro, OR until I was 12 years old when my parents moved our family to Redmond, Oregon. I moved back to beautiful Hillsobro in July of 2012 to be closer to my son and to work at The Portland Clinic. I have always wanted to be a nurse since I was a young child and our family started seeing a nurse practitioner as our PCP. I later interned with that same nurse practitioner and it was a wonderful experience.
I am a Family Nurse Practitioner who believes that the patient is the most important part of medicine and that by working together with the patient the best care is established. I believe that it is crucial to treat the entire person – body, soul and spirit in order to provide the most complete and satisfying care possible. This care is provided best when listening to the patient and their concerns and then collaborating with other medical professionals as necessary to meet those concerns. As a Family Nurse Practitioner I am able to provide both primary as well as acute care for patients throughout the life span from birth to advanced ages. I am able to suture, drain abscesses as well as other minor procedures, as well as having full prescriptive privileges. I love practicing at The Portland Clinic because we share the same values and mission for health care.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as camping, hiking, reading, volunteering at my church, biking, scuba diving and traveling to tropical places. I feel confident knowing that when I go home each night I have provided the best care possible to my patients.
Vicki was elected as a top nurse in Portland Monthly’s 2014 “Top Docs and Nurses” feature.
