Dr. Smith enjoys caring for a broad range of patients with orthopedic conditions.  His surgical interests focus on total hip and total knee replacements, arthroscopic surgery and a variety of hand conditions.  Dr. Smith practiced at The Portland Clinic in 1976-1986 and went on to practice in several orthopedic groups before returning to The Portland Clinic.

Dr. Smith attended Duke University for his undergraduate studies before earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.  He served an internship and completed his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at Oregon Health Science University.  He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Oregon Medical Association.
