The Portland Clinic wants to let you know which Medicare Advantage plans our doctors are accepting for the year 2012.  We understand that selecting a Medicare plan can be confusing, so we have partnered with SeniorChoices NW, a local agency specializing in Medicare approved HMO, PPO, and PDP insurance plans.  At no cost to you, SeniorChoices NW (at 503-682-1878, TTY 711 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday) can assist you in selecting the plan that fits your needs while enabling you to continue to see the doctors at The Portland Clinic. We encourage you to attend one of the free Medicare Informational Meetings we are holding in the upcoming months.  The meeting locations, dates and times are listed on the link below.

The Portland Clinic doctors are accepting the Medicare Advantage plans below for 2012. These insurance companies offer full Medicare benefits plus extra benefits beyond Original Medicare.

• AARP MedicareComplete by United Healthcare (HMO Only) – Columbia Office Providers Closed
• Health Net Medicare Plans
• Humana Medicare Advantage Plan - Humana Gold Plus (HMO/POS only) 
• Providence Medicare Advantage Plans
• Regence BlueCross of Oregon MedAdvantage

You may already be aware that Medicare Advantage plans renew their contracts and change benefits every year. (Medicare Advantage plans that will be discontinued next year are required to notify their members in October.) If you receive one of these letters you have the ability to apply for another plan immediately so please contact SeniorChoices NW to learn your options.  New this year, any changes to your current Medicare Advantage plan for 2012 must be made between October 15th and December 7th. (Special Enrollment Periods are still in effect for qualifying events.)

We will continue to care for current patients who enroll with Original Medicare and we will bill all Medicare supplemental or gap plans that would be secondary to Original Medicare.  We no longer accept new patients who are enrolled in only Original Medicare.

Patients turning 65 or planning to switch from Original Medicare to one of the plans above may call SeniorChoices NW or attend one of the free Medicare Informational Meetings.  A sales person will be present with information and applications.
