The Portland Clinic Expands to Eastside Location

Oregon's Oldest Private, Multi Specialty Medical Group is Joined by Columbia Family Medical Associates - The Portland Clinic announced today that Columbia Family Medical Associates, an independent, physician owned organization in practice for more than 20-years, will be joining the clinic on May 1st as the fifth location of The Portland Clinic.  Columbia Family Medical Associates will be newly named, The Portland Clinic - Columbia, and will remain at its current location at the corner of N.E. 122nd and Airport Way. This will be the first eastside location for The Portland Clinic, created for the ease and access now available to patients at The Portland Clinic & Columbia Family Medical Associates. The expansion is driven by an ever-present need for multi-specialty care in the Parkrose Heights and Mount Tabor neighborhoods and will prove especially convenient for Clark County residents as it is a short 10-minute drive on Highway 205.

Columbia Family Medical Associates, founded by long-time Portland residents and philanthropists Dr. Ralph and Laurie Yates, approached The Portland Clinic in late 2009, looking to the future of their practice and its patients. "We do not view this as an exit strategy. It is instead a decision to anticipate change in today's medical environment and act on the behalf of our patient base, granting them the level of care that they demand and deserve as we continue to grow," comments Dr. Yates. "We want to emphasize that this business decision was something that we wanted for the betterment of our patients and the future of the practice."

This collaboration took place due to the sheer like-mindedness of the physician leaders of the two organizations who both believe in the delivery of quality patient care, respect for support staff and matching company cultures that are patient centered. Both practices share a dual focus of expertly treating illness and injury while encouraging and educating patients on strategies to enjoy a lifetime of good health. The goal to retain the successful team of physicians, nurse practitioner and staff at Columbia Family Medical Associates was reached early in the negotiations between the two successful practices. As a result, all three physicians (Drs. Ralph Yates, Jeffrey Young & Brian Lindeman), the Nurse Practitioner (Lynn West, ANP) and a majority of support staff will continue at The Portland Clinic - Columbia, assuring that an already well established and highly successful practice continue serving residents of Northeast Portland and Clark County.
