I decided to become a doctor in high school, when I was allowed into an operating room as part of a health sciences class. I stood for eight hours watching open-heart surgery, and it was quite possibly the most exciting thing I had ever seen. Although I didn’t set out to become a dermatologist, I quickly learned in medical school that I was well suited for the specialty.
I completed my medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, and my dermatology residencies at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Scottsdale, Ariz. I have always loved the Northwest, so after five years of Arizona heat, I moved to Portland and started my dermatology practice with The Portland Clinic in 2014. I appreciate the multidisciplinary structure of the clinic, which fosters access to other specialists and well-coordinated care.
With sub-specialty training in pediatric dermatology, I serve a diverse population of children and adults and provide both medical and surgical care for skin conditions. My professional philosophy is that good outcomes can be achieved with good communication, sound diagnoses, appropriate treatment selection and high-quality patient care. I value efficiency and clarity, but my main joy comes from educating patients and watching their conditions improve.
When not at work, I relax with my significant other enjoying yoga, film, photography and travel.
