Internal Medicine - Primary Care
The practice of medicine has changed a lot since I joined The Portland Clinic in 1979. However, the advantages of working in a multi-specialty clinic have remained the same. The collegiality and communication between primary care providers and specialists improves our ability to rapidly diagnose problems and to offer a high quality of care to our patients. When addressing my patients’ concerns, I try to provide an evidence-based medical viewpoint and to encourage shared decision-making with them.
I graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1976 and served my internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital and St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, Texas. I completed my residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliate Hospitals in Milwaukee.
Outside the office, I enjoy getting together with my adult son and daughter. I have made the difficult transition from jogging to walking for exercise, and I enjoy hiking in the Gorge, around the base of Mt. Hood and at the Coast. I also find yard work relaxing.
