Internal Medicine - Primary Care
I am originally from the Portland Metropolitan area, and completed my undergraduate at Oklahoma State University and my medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine with rotations at their Burlington, Vermont and Portland, Maine training hospitals. I completed my training and residency including a chief year (4th year) in internal medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
While I enjoyed the beautiful fall colors and stunning Maine coastline, I am glad to be back to mild, rainy winters and time at the Oregon Coast as I continue to practice medicine and care for the community in which I grew up.
I chose internal medicine partly because of the wide variety of topics and people it covers; from nutrition and preventive care, through conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, especially because any of these subjects can be applicable to patients from 18 to 80, and beyond. I also chose medicine due to a love of teaching.
I think of a primary care provider as a user’s manual for the human body. I truly enjoy helping people to understand their health, and also enjoy the opportunity to guide them through routine maintenance and any health problems that may arise. I look forward to getting to know my patients and providing them with the opportunity to ask questions about their conditions and medications, as well as aiding them in gathering the information they need to live healthy lives.
To maintain balance, I love running with my husband, taking our dog for walks, baking with friends, reading, and drinking coffee. I also enjoy swimming, Pilates and travel, especially to the Oregon Coast. I am excited to reconnect with excellent volunteer organizations including SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) and the biannual Oregon Beach Cleanup through SOLV now that I’m home.
