Internal Medicine - Primary Care
Originally from the Portland area, I completed my undergraduate degree at Oklahoma State University and my medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. My education then took me to the other Portland, where I completed my training and residency in internal medicine at Maine Medical Center. While I enjoyed the beautiful fall colors of Maine, I am glad to be back in Oregon, where I get to practice medicine and care for the community in which I grew up.
I chose internal medicine partly because of the wide variety it covers, from issues like nutrition and preventive care to conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, all of which can affect people from 18 to 80 and beyond. Another reason why I chose this path is that I love teaching. I think of a primary care provider as a user’s manual for the human body. I truly enjoy helping people understand their health, guiding them through routine maintenance and assisting with any problems that arise. I look forward to getting to know my patients, answering questions about their conditions and medications, and providing information to help them live healthy lives.
To maintain my own health, I love running with my husband, taking our dog for walks, swimming and doing Pilates. I also enjoy baking with friends, reading, drinking coffee and traveling — especially to the Oregon Coast. I support the biannual Oregon Beach Cleanup through SOLV, as well as the excellent volunteer organization SMART (Start Making a Reader Today).
