Ophthalmology & Eye Services
I’ve been working in optics since 2006. I began in one-hour production labs, which provided an amazing education in optical properties, materials, coatings, upgrades, fitting difficult prescriptions, and what it takes to make lenses that deliver clear vision. I eventually took a leadership position, where I coached team members on how to avoid mistakes and reduce remakes. This experience has proven invaluable to my work with patients at The Portland Clinic, giving me a world of insight into how to guide people through frame selection, fitting, and the vast array of lens options while helping them avoid common pitfalls.
I joined The Portland Clinic in 2011 as a dispensing optician at the South office, and moved to the Beaverton Optical Shop in November of 2013 and earned my American Board of Opticianry Certification shortly thereafter. The patient-centered environment here is a great fit for the way I like to work with people. I enjoy sounding out patients’ wants and needs, teaching them about the options available, and delivering exactly what they want. I take particular joy in maintaining a balanced selection of quality, durable frames for all styles – classic to modern, minimal to bold. It’s like an art collection that I get to curate, but with pieces you can wear.
Away from work, I like spending time among trees and being with my cats and my family. I spend much of my free time reading and writing speculative fiction, and embarking on adventures in my kitchen and in my travels.
