As a Pacific Northwest native and a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, I spent several years working in the outdoor industry before making the shift to a career in medicine, a path that I always knew I’d pursue. I began my career transition in 2013, when I quit my job, packed a bag and moved from Seattle to Portland to be with my future husband and to begin my physician assistant studies. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, I completed my master’s degree as a physician assistant at Oregon Health & Science University in 2019 and joined the team at The Portland Clinic in 2021. I’m proud to be part of this clinic, which has provided top-notch, team-based care to generations of Portlanders.
I strongly believe that partnership between a patient and provider is at the heart of great care. It’s important to me to actively listen to patients’ concerns while considering the treatment options that are best suited to their specific needs and conditions. While evidence-based medicine is the foundation of my practice, I also try to incorporate non-pharmacologic treatments that are both supported by evidence and affordable. As a physician assistant, I’m here to provide information to help empower patients to achieve their health goals.
Growing up in Seattle, I spent most of my childhood outdoors, puddle jumping, climbing trees and playing soccer. Although my activities have changed, I still spend a lot of time outside with my husband and son, camping, hiking and exploring the Pacific Northwest in a van that we’ve lovingly nicknamed Filmore. I’m also a runner, and I’ve taken up surfing on the Oregon Coast (yes, a thick wetsuit really does keep you warm enough). When I can’t get outside, I enjoy taking on home improvement projects and watching my favorite sports teams: the Seahawks, the Mariners and the Trailblazers.
Please note: As a physician assistant, Lauren sees same-day/overflow patients for our other Beaverton clinic physicians. Patients can’t choose Lauren as their primary care provider.
