After graduating from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine in 1989, I completed my residency in Anesthesiology and a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. I am board certified in both Pain Management and Anesthesiology. I specialize in all aspects of spinal pain care: transforaminal and translaminar epidural injections, facet injections, hip, knee and shoulder injections, radiofrequency procedures, SI joint injections, trigger point injections, sphenocath blocks for headaches and facial pain and implantable therapies including spinal cord stimulation. I have success treating shingles post-herpetic neuralgia, migraine headaches, failed laminectomy syndrome and spine pain.
Outside of seeing patients at The Portland Clinic, I am the medical director for pain medicine for the Oregon Anesthesiology Group, where I have practiced for the past 21 years. I enjoy collaborating with my patients and welcome referrals from family medicine physicians, neurosurgeons, orthopedists, internists, chiropractors, physical therapists, doctors of acupuncture and other specialists.
I was honored to be named Portland Monthly’s “Top Doc” from 2013 through 2018.
