I completed my training at the University of California at San Francisco, and worked as a nurse practitioner in substance abuse treatment. I moved to Oregon in 2012 from San Francisco, CA as my wife, who is a radiologist, starting working for Kaiser Northwest. I started working for The Portland Clinic as a nurse practitioner in cardiology and am excited to be a part of this collaboration between two great institutions. We have thoroughly enjoyed living in this beautiful state and have been very impressed with the kindness of the people here.
As an ANCC board certified nurse practitioner at The Portland Clinic, I have had the pleasure and good fortune of working closely with Dr. Jay Shah, who brings to the clinic a tremendous understanding of cardiology along with a personable nature and professionalism that is much appreciated by everyone here. Working with him has allowed me to build upon my knowledge of the cardiovascular system which first developed after working 10 years as an RN for Stanford Hospital on a cardiac surgery floor. I look forward to sharing my experience with patients. In particular, I have a had a longstanding personal interest in the balanced approach to disease prevention incorporating the elements of mind, body and spirit. On a clinical level this translates into lifestyle modification and utilizing well-established tools to manage chronic disease.
I strongly believe in living my life with the same focus on balance as I share with patients. This starts with a healthy diet, a varied and regular exercise regimen, time for sleep, meditation and quality social time with friends and family. I replenish my soul by exploring nature, working in our yard and cooking meals with my wife. I love to cycle, kayak and hike through new areas of this beautiful state. I also believe that providing a quality service to those that I serve gives me a purpose and direction that keeps me healthy and happy on many levels.
