Internal Medicine - Primary Care
I was born and raised in NYC, where I spent 13 years of my professional career – mostly working as an RN in large, metropolitan Emergency Rooms. While I did enjoy the variety and fast pace of the ER, I realized I was missing out on continuity of care and developing relationships with my patients. These revelations led me to obtain my advanced practice (Nurse Practitioner) degree in Primary Care from New York University – where I knew I would be able to really get to know my patients and help them on their healing journeys.
Prior to working at The Portland Clinic, I gained experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a very diverse NYC Internal Medicine Office and then, briefly, in GYN Oncology. However, an inspired trip to India and Nepal with the Wilderness Medical Society has allowed me the chance to see the benefits of Eastern Medicine’s approach on the overall health and well-being of the individual. It is this trip that triggered my interest in completing a certificate in Holistic medicine. I am an Adult Nurse Practitioner with a specialty degree in Holistic Medicine and my license allows me to care for both men and women, throughout various stages of life. I aim to treat my patients using traditional medicine as well as integrative modalities, when appropriate. These modalities can include simple relaxation techniques, discussions regarding sleep hygiene, dietary issues, etc. I also have an extensive interest in women’s health and aim to help women maintain wellness and hormonal balance throughout their cycles. I truly believe that a proper balance of body, mind and spirit are crucial for overall good health.
My family and I made the 3000-mile leap from NYC to Oregon in October, 2017. The beautiful nature, warmer winters and friendly people were the draw. The idea of raising my kids in an actual house (NYC apartments are pretty small in comparison) with hiking in the backyard and the breathtaking natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest just seemed right. When I am not at work I can be found exploring the city in an attempt to find the perfect almond milk latte, hiking or taking nature walks with my 2 kids, husband and golden retriever, perfecting my yogic headstand and enjoying the culinary benefits of having an actual kitchen made for cooking! I consistently try to practice my own wellness ideals by striving to stay present in my own chaotic and wonderful life!
