Manual Medicine & Osteopathy
I started my health care career as a chiropractor, earning a degree in chiropractic medicine from the National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences) in Lombard, Ill. I practiced in Chicago and taught for five years in chiropractic colleges in Chicago and Los Angeles before deciding to continue my medical training at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. I chose an osteopathic medical school because I liked the osteopathic philosophy of treating the whole person.
My specialty is musculoskeletal medicine, and I’m particularly interested in treating muscle pain. I use hands-on manipulative techniques as my primary treatment method, and most of my patients respond well to these. However, as a physician, I also can do steroid injections for those stubborn conditions.
Growing up in a military family, I spent my childhood living in different countries and many parts of the United States. I enjoy traveling and seeing new sights — probably an extension of my childhood experience — and have driven through each of the lower 48 states. When not traveling, I take advantage of the outdoor activities available here in the Pacific Northwest. At home, I enjoy woodworking and home-improvement projects.
