Understanding conditions related to the heart and blood vessels can be life-saving. When diagnosed early, cardiovascular disease can be treated and managed very effectively. With education and encouragement, patients can make life style changes that prevent many problems from occurring.
The Cardiovascular Team at The Portland Clinic includes two board certified cardiologists and certified adult nurse practitioner, along with registered nurses, certified medical assistants and cardiac and vascular ultrasound sonographers. The Team offers unsurpassed care at our Downtown, Beaverton, Columbia and East locations. The department sees and manages the full spectrum of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, valve disorders, congenital heart disease, hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, aortic disease and aneurysms, and pacemaker/defibrillators.
Early detection of life threatening heart disorders and other diseases is possible through the use of echocardiography procedures. In May 2016, the Cardiology department became accredited in Echocardiography (in the area of adult Transthoracic, Adult Stress) by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be proving quality of care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.
Our cardiologists work closely with primary care physicians, other specialists, nutritionists, and nursing staff to provide personalized, comprehensive care. In addition to treatment, our cardiovascular department offers preventive care and multiple diagnostic tests.
