I give credit to small town Corvallis, Oregon for a large part of who I am today. I spent the majority of my childhood there, and stayed to complete my undergraduate degree. I moved to Portland when I started my medical education at Oregon Health and Sciences University, and my family and I fell in love with the city. Medicine has been my calling for numerous reasons; the interpersonal relationships, the science of medicine, and the opportunity to talk to individuals who need medical guidance. I completed my residency in family medicine, which provided broad medical training to care for all individuals, from infants to seniors.
My goal is to allow patients the opportunity to heal. I believe that the foundation of medical treatment begins with understanding how medical illness may affect a patient’s day to day life. With this understanding, I hope to provide education, perspective, treatment options, and through open communication, an optimal and agreeable medical plan. I take great satisfaction seeing the transition between illness and wellness for my patients, and I feel blessed to have a role in medicine through which I can witness this contrast.
Outside of work, my family comes first. We love nature and its healing properties. Some of our favorite activities include hiking, camping, and visiting state and national parks. We also enjoy visiting museums of all types. My personal interests include playing and watching basketball (go Blazers), and enjoying the calming focus of woodworking and carpentry.
