Bio

I graduated from Dartmouth College and earned my medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. After that, I spent 12 years as a U.S. Navy physician, completing my internal medicine and gastroenterology training at Naval Medical Center San Diego. Finally, I moved back to Portland, where I had grown up. I was drawn back to Portland both by my love for the city and by the collegial environment at The Portland Clinic.

I offer a wide range of general gastroenterology services, from preventive and diagnostic screenings to treatments for conditions that affect the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. My approach with each patient is to take the time needed to explain the symptoms, diagnosis and potential treatments. I want patients to leave their visit understanding exactly how their condition is causing their symptoms and how different therapies can help alleviate them.

I balance practicing medicine with spending time in the outdoors whether it’s skiing, playing tennis or soccer, or working in my yard.
