Internal Medicine
As an internal medicine physician, I believe that when my patients understand their care, they can make the best decisions to fit their lifelong goals. I help foster that understanding by explaining how their disease processes work, the benefits and risks of their treatment options, and what to expect moving forward. This helps us to collaborate as full partners on a working plan for their health.
High blood pressure, diabetes and obesity are the conditions I see and treat most often. I am especially interested in helping patients with obesity to reach their goals and to become stronger and healthier for life.
I grew up in Portland and attended Linfield College before moving to eastern Washington for my medical training. After earning my D.O. at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima and completing my internal medicine residency at Trios Health RCCH-UW in Kennewick, I missed the rain and the feeling of home. So, I moved back to this side of the Cascades and, after practicing for a few years in Longview, finally returned to Portland, which will always be home to me. The people in this community — teachers, mentors, neighbors, friends and family members — have given me a lifetime of encouragement and guidance. I am very happy to be here, where I can contribute to my community’s health. For personal balance, I make sure to take breaks, to have a creative outlet and to move on a regular basis. My creative outlets include making art and jewelry, taking photos outdoors and drawing silly comics. To keep moving, I enjoy dancing along to workout videos or heading to a park for a walk along a lake or trail. I also love just spending time with my family.
