Bio

I grew up in Eugene and Oregon has always been home, even when I was living across the country. My interest in medicine grew out of a lifelong involvement in sports and a fascination with how the human body moves. Orthopedic sports medicine was a natural fit because it combines anatomy, biomechanics, problem-solving and the opportunity to help people return to the activities that give their lives meaning.

I attended Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine, trained in orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins University and pursued advanced sports medicine fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic. There, I gained extensive experience caring for complex injuries and also served as an assistant team physician for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Lynx, as well as collegiate soccer, lacrosse, hockey and football teams. These experiences shaped my understanding of the unique demands of athletes at every level.

I care for adolescents and adults with sports-related and active-lifestyle injuries affecting the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow, offering both surgical and nonsurgical care. My clinical interests include ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, patellar instability, cartilage restoration, hip impingement and labral injuries, shoulder instability and rotator cuff disorders. I believe the best care plan treats the individual, not just the diagnosis.

My approach begins with listening. I want to understand what a patient hopes to return to – whether that’s competitive athletics, weekend recreation, work or comfortable everyday movement. When surgery is appropriate, my goal is to use evidence-based, joint-preserving techniques and create a recovery plan that’s realistic, personalized and focused on lasting function.

Staying active is an important part of my own life. I enjoy running, weightlifting, soccer, hiking, skiing and exploring the beautiful Northwest. Most importantly, I recharge by spending time with family and friends.
