Internal Medicine - Primary Care
Before moving to Portland in 2010, I lived most of my life in southern New Mexico. I’d always wanted to work in health care, so I attended New Mexico State University, earned a nursing degree and went to work as a nurse. After more than a decade in emergency and cardiac care nursing, I realized that I wanted to shift to the clinic setting, where I could help curb the need for the emergency care that I was providing. So, I went back to school and earned my doctoral nurse practitioner degree at Washington State University in 2019.
In my primary care role, I provide both preventive care to help people stay well, and treatment to help them manage chronic and acute conditions if they arise. My focus is on holistic, evidence-based care that helps people achieve their health goals. I see health care as a collaborative process between the patient and provider, and I work with my patients to make sure that they feel heard, and that they understand and buy into their care plan.
When I’m not working, I like to stay active. I love riding my bike and keeping busy with my children’s sports and after-school activities. We are also big Timbers and Thorns supporters and enjoy attending games when we can. I love the Pacific Northwest, and I’m continually thankful that I live in such a wonderful community surrounded by such spectacular natural beauty.
