Family Medicine - Primary Care
As a graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, I have spent the majority of my life in Oklahoma, where I earned both my undergraduate and medical degree. I’ve always been drawn to the mountains and trees, so I am very excited to be surrounded by such beautiful landscape in Portland. I didn’t always want to be a physician, but most of my life I have felt drawn to health care. It was in college that I realized my love of medicine and decided to go to medical school. Being able to combine my love of science and compassion for other people is perfect for me and I can’t imagine spending my life doing anything else.
As a doctor of osteopathy (DO) specializing in Family Practice, I practice a “whole person” philosophy. Seeing patients as more than just their disease or illness is essential to me. Every patient is unique, which is part of why I love Family Practice. I enjoy treating patients of all ages and getting to know them. Some areas of medicine that are of particular interest to me include pediatrics, women’s health, and geriatrics. While traditional medicine is useful, Manual Medicine is also a tool I utilize in the treatment of many ailments and I am happy to use it when appropriate.
I am so excited to be in the Northwest and look forward to spending my spare time outdoors hiking and camping with my husband. We also love to travel as there is so much of the world to see. I have to admit, though, sometimes there is nothing better than a good cup of coffee and a good book on a rainy day (yes I like rain)!
Dr. Heeney was elected as a top doctor in Portland Monthly’s 2017 and 2018 “Top Docs and Nurses” feature.
