Manual medicine usually refers to hands-on treatment for relieving muscle pain and spasms — especially in the back and neck. Our manual medicine specialist is both a chiropractor and an osteopathic physician, which means that he can use both sets of tools to customize a treatment program specifically for you. Depending on the cause of your pain, your treatment may include very gentle, light-touch techniques, muscle-stretching, joint manipulation or even injections. Most patients also receive instructions on how to stretch and strengthen the painful area, not just to alleviate the problem but also to prevent it from happening again.
