Internal Medicine
Please note: Dr. Silvey’s practice is dedicated to adults aged 50 and older.
As a geriatrician, I work with patients and their families to address the common hurdles of aging, including complex medical illness, medication side effects, chronic pain, urinary incontinence, emotional concerns, cognitive issues, frailty and falls. I see the relationship as a partnership in which I serve as an educator, advisor and facilitator. As part of this partnership, patients and their families provide key information for decision-making by tracking medication use, dietary intake, and other metrics such as blood pressure or glucose levels. When we work harmoniously, we can figure out the best treatments to support the patient’s health, independence and overall quality of life.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Portland after high school. For college, I attended Princeton University, where I studied ecology and evolutionary biology. I earned my medical degree from the University of New Mexico, and also completed my residency and fellowship there. I am board certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine.
After my training, I practiced in New Mexico for several years and was named a Top Geriatrician multiple times by The Albuquerque Magazine. I have since returned to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to my parents as they move through their later years.
