Fighting the flu in the Rose City

The Portland Clinic once again teams with Raphael House to administer free flu shots

Doctors and nurses at The Portland Clinic continuously pursue methods to keep residents of our great city happy, healthy and virus free. Recently, pediatrician Dr. Laura Bledsoe and pediatric medical assistant Crystal Culver led a team of volunteers to administer free flu shots to dozens of our neighbors who rely on the services provided at Raphael House of Portland, an agency that offers emergency shelter and ongoing assistance to survivors of domestic violence and their children. We were thrilled to partner with Raphael House and Umpqua Bank for a flu shot clinic, family portrait, and ice cream social event for program participants.

“It was a pleasure returning to Raphael House to serve the community, administering vital flu vaccinations to families at the organization,” says Bledsoe. “It was a fun day as families dressed up to have their pictures taken, received their flu shots and even topped off the day with some ice cream, donated by our friends at Umpqua Bank. As always, it was a wonderful experience to work with all of the staff at Raphael House, who did a great job turning a not-so-fun vaccination into a fun, kid-friendly event!”

The team increased the number of vaccinations administered at the annual Raphael House flu shot clinic from last season, underscoring our mission of health and wellness for all of our neighbors, and hopes to do even more next year. The Portland Clinic is proud to support our clinicians as they volunteer at great local organizations, working to improve the lives of Portland residents.
