The Portland Clinic announces a new CEO

Amy Mulcaster, D.O., takes on the leadership role and becomes the first female CEO in the clinic's 103-year history

The Portland Clinic, Oregon’s oldest multispecialty medical group, has announced that Amy Mulcaster, D.O., chief medical officer, has been appointed the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the clinic. Dr. Mulcaster replaces Patrick Menzies, who had served in the CEO role since June 2022.

Dr. Mulcaster has cared for Portland women as a gynecologist for more than 15 years and has been a partner-owner of the clinic since 2015. As chief medical officer (CMO) of The Portland Clinic since 2020, she has played a pivotal role in maintaining an exceptional level of service in the community while guiding the privately owned clinic into the future.

“Having served as the CMO for the last four years, I am well prepared to take on the CEO role,” says Dr. Mulcaster. “I am honored to accept the position and excited about this new leadership opportunity. As a physician and a partner of The Portland Clinic, I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from our leadership team, colleagues and staff and I am committed to leading with a vested interest the success of the clinic.”

“Dr. Mulcaster has proven her leadership skills as CMO and throughout her time as a partner,” says Robert Sandmeier, M.D., orthopedic surgeon and executive board chair at The Portland Clinic. “Her transition to this new role is significant for many reasons. She is the first partner-owner to serve as CEO; she is the first doctor in more than 50 years to serve in the position; and she is the first female CEO in the clinic’s 103-year history.”

Dr. Mulcaster is dedicated to supporting the providers and teams at The Portland Clinic and to ensuring that the clinic continues to be a recognized leader of quality health care services for the community.
